Interesting. I think it's better to have the entire room darkened, because the rest of your body can sense the light, instead of just covering the eyes (2nd best).

The GOOD hotel rooms are capable of being made completely dark. Not-so-good hotels and motels still let the light in (which is annoying). I had to stay at a holiday inn last month and not only was the light pouring in the window through the curtains, there was even MORE light pouring in on all sides of the door frame from the hallway. Not to mention lights on various gadgets in the room. It was ridiculous!
