Re: Meat into Vinegar experiment revisited
Very good questions, thanks.
I worked under sterile conditions to the best of my ability.
I did watch a control sample of vinegar first, but since this is informal I didn't photograph it. There was nothing in it that I could see or record as 'suspicious' in regard to this experiment.
I didn't use a dropper. I used a sterile steel loop (a piece of steel with a rounded edge, good for 'sampling and transfer'). I sterilized it as usual by soaking it first in Isopropyl Alcohol 70%, and then setting it onto direct flame for 7 seconds. Afterwards the samples were collected and mounted onto previously (and carefully) examined slides for inspection.
The "jar" shown in the photo was made sterile by boling it in boling water for 21 minutes and by letting it dry with its cap placed overnight in a sterile and controlled environment. A sample from inside the prepared jar was inspected for particles about 10 minutes before starting the experiment. The fields looked clear.
Of course I may have missed something, which is why the repetition of experiments is a good thing most of the time.
