Re: Perhaps You Didn't Actually Read it [updated]
yeah, hes a former pastor, perhaps his reading skills have deteriorated? i am saying that if you actually read the book of galations, it says nothing whatsoever about tithing. the entire point of the book is that we are no longer bound to the law as the OT jews were. since tithing is part of that law, it would make sense that we are no longer bound to that law either.
now if someone wants to give money to the church, its between them and God. if someone wants to use galations to brow beat someone into giving, thats a pretty weird thing to do, and i ahve never heard any pastor do this.
it would behoove you to read the books you are quoting, that way you would be knowledgable about that which you speak.
galations, chapter 3
10All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law." 11Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith."
12The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, "The man who does these things will live by them." 13Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."
14He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
