If you really want to 'let go' of your previous relationship, then you have to do just that - LET GO! By continuing to contact him you are reviving the old feelings, and when he responds that he still loves you and no one else will compare this only serves to reinforce the good memories and feelings which cause you to continue hanging on. Living your life based on 'what if...' is living in a fantasy. Stay focused on WHAT IS...which includes the bad feelings, too. You don't need him to finish your business; that is something that you do within yourself. It sounds like you are more attached to the illusion of what this relationship was rather than the reality of it. Determine what this relationship provided for you and find ways to develop these things for yourself...the love, respect and good feelings. You will always be trapped if you rely on others to create these for you. As long as you hold on to something that is not right for you, you are not making room for positive things to enter your life. Tweet
