Re: SARS - I'm in Shanghai and Dr. Horowitz comments are WRONG
Hi Dragon, I do want to be very clear on which points Dr. Horowitz is wrong....one of the clearly implied primary purposes of his "SARS IQ test" is that this bug is just another flu same as least year's flu and pneumonias that killed 37,000 people, etc....this is terribly misleading on his part....as per my factual comments in my original post...that's the simple observable proof....which by the way, now in Beijing the situation remains quite bad....NOT the same as last year's flu...that is definitely my MAIN point....and as I tried to be balanced in my straightforward post....I do understand and respect SOME of it....I'm not going to be ego-headed and say I'm 100% right about anything....I stand by my post......I'm not even saying the bug isn't man made and engineered....none of that would really surprise me...the people of humanity never fail to amaze me the actions they rationalize and commit in the name of their whatever...
I suggest everyone outside of China realize that our only source of information here in China is NOT the China Daily newspaper. In China, there is the deep cultural tradition of "guanxi" which simply put is who you know...there are lots of high level and well established foreigners here with long term relationships with those who are on the "inside" of this, front line doctors, nurses, and other gov't employees working at the various hospitals, government ministry offices related to the SARS issue...as a matter of longterm friendships and ethical obligations, people here keep each other informed of what's really going on and something out of the ordinary is clearly going on....I'll be in touch as it goes...thanks
