SARS - I'm in Shanghai and Dr. Horowitz comments are WRONG

Dear All especially Dr. Horowitz,

I live in China...over 3 years and in Shanghai for the last 2 years....I like your quiz and respect your research...it makes SOME excellent points, BUT I'll also speak my mind intelligently and tell you your suggestions and intimations that SARS is not a real serious flu causing real problems and real deaths which are OUT of the ordinary realm of flus is WRONG and you need to pull back your egotistical confusing research and assumption quiz baloney which just makes the confusion even worse...

Right now in Hong Kong and Beijing hospitals are over filled with patients who have high fever with a dry cough, of whom approximately 10 per day are dropping dead from...NO MORE BEDS LEFT....THAT didn't happen with last year's flu bug....get it?

In Beijing they just spent 2 weeks building a new hospital building with 1000 more beds to put the sick people in....I don't recall them needing to build an extra freakin' hospital because of last year's flu bug....THAT didn't happen last year....get it?

People who are dying are developing an atypical pneumnonia not seen before....THAT didn't happen last year...ok? So don't tell us not to worry or that its just another flu.....

Regardless of some of the valid points, more people than normal are dying from this particular bug and that is main reason why people are freaking out...its not a bad reason and its not a reason to write another Conspiracy theory book....its human nature and its understandable...this is DEFINITELY transmitted by close contact, so when in crowded places, smart people wear good masks to avoid other people's sneeze and cough mists and don't touch public surfaces, etc. ...all the standard smart precautions...

Lastly, YES, lots of people probably have the same virus here already, but they are not getting very sick...me included, and many of my friends here....we have had some colds, some flus, soome fevers, and we have ALL had that dry cough with it, during the last 3 months and still, BUT none of us ever got that sick or even went to the hospital...even local medical doctors here which we have talked to understand that we could easily have the same virus, etc....but none of this changes the reality....YES, there's media B.S, etc.....BUT there is also a REAL problem here with real deaths at an unusually high rate that is scaring the hell out of people....sorry if you don't like simpler explanations that also don't sell books the same as you accuse the medical/pharm industry of this scam to get funding...:) Respectfully but pissed...M
