Re: Hope for Curing Eczema? (new to board)

I just discovered this amazing forum, and since learning that my 4 month old grandson has a sudden case of eczema, thought I would ask "Aunty" (with the marvelous success stories)something. Rash started when his nursing mother decided that she needed to be able to use formula(pumping while working fulltime is getting too hard)...and tried formula with a whey/casein base...not good. The baby's father also had a milk allergy so was raised, back in the 60's . on soy. The slight rash the baby initially had turned serious..into a full blown, weeping eczema. Stopped formula, but condition worsened, so Doctor put him on cortisone cream..seems to be improving, but grandma here thinks that this is a bad idea, and wants to offer a healthy alternative. Problem is I am wondering if the buttermilk in the Burts Baby Bee formula will be bad news for a child with a cow's milk allergy?? The child is a very fair red head with delicate skin, so I think lotion is a great idea in general(even if they find a soybased formula)..but which lotion? Buts Bees sounds magical, but I wonder about the buttermilk part. Any ideas? Or is it going to be a trial and error thing? thanks for any input! Tigger
