Re: Fecal Impaction During Cleanse - Ouch!

Hello Intuition, I have suffered from the same thing you did right up to the excavating. I did not have the leakage problem though. I now think people like us have more than one issue to deal with in getting better colon health. Probably the first is hydration, although you sound like you are working on that. However, you might want to consider switching from the sweet and chemical laden Gatorade to a more natural electrolyte drink. Simply mix 3/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon or lemon and lime juice. 1/4-1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt and 1/2/cup sweetener (I use evaporated organic cane juice rich is rich in minerals) and about 1/2 gallon pure water. Drink this throughout the day. Once hydration is optimal then do a flush with a magnesium based laxative like your mag. citrate. When you are finished with that eat some raw or frozen corn, swallow some whole if you can. See how long it takes that corn to come out. This will help determine your transit time. If it takes more than 24 hours (at the very most) you need to consider using a Bowel Cleanse that contains an herbal stimulant laxative like Senna or Cascara Sagrada. My peristalsis had all but stopped (due to nerve inflammation according to my Naturopath) I am now ding the Dr. Schulze Colon Cleanse with Intestinal Formulas #1&2. I have struggled with that, but after a week and a half the IF#1 is finally working. If all continues to go well I will begin IF#2 at the end of the week. Hopefully this will help stimulate and tone your colon to work better without it becoming dependent on the herbs. IF#1 also contains cleansing and lubricating herbs so it is not as harsh a straight Senna or Cascara capsule. When you are through with this portion of the cleanse you might want to consider a good probiotic to replace/grow healthy bacteria. I already have some Primal Defense to use, but you can use yogurt or Keifer if the other is too expensive. If have found that in serious cases colon cleansing is not quick, easy or inexpensive. But, since so much of our health revolves around a healthy colon, it is well worth the effort.

Run through Unyquity's posts here, she has given some excellent advice on colon cleansing plus some valuable links to other Websites. Good Luck, remember you are not the only one struggling. Hopefully we can help and support each other.
