Re: Gum Disease/Periodontal
Donna,
I understand how you feel. I have a similar situation, my gums do not bleed, but they seem to be receding anyway. I would also like to know why.
I recently had my teeth scaled and planed too. I don't have a miracle answer, but I can tell you what I have been doing. I have been using an Oral B Sonic Complete (like the sonicare) and it has made my teeth feel amazingly clean. I haven't had any pain in my gums since I have used it either. I am not sure I totally have the technique down yet, but still it is like the plaque is all gone. I have only been using it on the "soft" setting too, to get used to it, and it is still amazing. I bought mine on EBay for cheaper that the store or Amazon.
I have been making sure to floss at least once per day and have brushed my teeth after every meal or when I can not rinse with something. I have been rinsing with salt water a lot and it really seems to sooth and heal.
At night I am using Biotene mouthwash, I am not sure if it is totally natural, but it doesn't have alcohol. It also has natural enzymes that will benefit your gums. I usually use it before bed because it fights dry mouth and I know lack of salvia is bad for your gums and I am a mouth sleeper.
I think that
Colloidal Silver is excellent for ridding the mouth of bacteria and I have ordered some and will be trying it out soon. Then I will probably get a generator. It should really help you to heal. You can brush with it and rinse with it. It is suppose to be awesome stuff.
I have also tried an oral solution of MSM and DMSO it let sit in my mouth for as long as possible. Both substances should be able to penetrate the gum tissue. They are both supposed to be great for inflammation and repairing collagen (which gums are made of); it has worked wonders for my skin. I don't know if I am allowed to link you to the site were I buy it, but if you want to email me if will give it to you. DMSO is strong and has to be diluted and that is why I would rather tell you where to buy it. Don't try to do it yourself without research.
I also have a hydrofloss (although I don't use it enough) and I will fill it with ozanated water and irrigate my gums with it. Irrigating is very important to keep infection away and is recommended by Dr. Nara.
I have used these things and my gums are looking way better. Take extra vitamin c and calcuim.
I have not used the product that you are talking about but I am using Clenzology tooth and gum solution and I think they are similar. It should keep your mouth really clean to help heal your gums.
I hope this helps you some. You may already be doing some of the things that I mentioned. Hopefully someone that has been close to surgery (I have not) can maybe help you more. Did the dentist say it was so drastic that you needed to do it immediately? If not you might want to take some time to really try to heal your gums before you go through with it. You may want to get another dentist's opinion, as well. My gums are healing well since my scaling and planing (that is when I started doing all of this).
Also, keep a positive attitude and visualize that you are healing your gums and you body.
Blessings
