Re: Hey Anne!
Hiya! :)
Sorry you're back on the binge cycle. Don't be hard on yourself Do you know anything what's triggered it? You don't have to tell me (and the whole world of curezone!) of course. Just wondering if it was a food trigger or emotional trigger. Also the Bach flowers could be working and bringing things up but they're usually quite gentle.
Don't be embarrassed either BTW....I completely empathise with you anyway as I go through binge cycles.
Someone on my nutrition course was telling me that she's been bingeing for years (she also has M.E. and
food sensitivities etc which doesn't help if she binges on wheat or
Sugar etc.) and over the past year she has stopped due to joining Overeaters Anonymous. She says they follow a 12 step programme or something, which I'm not into at all, but she said basically it's just a really supportive group and everyone has their own space to talk about how they've been during the week, and it's very non-judgemental. Anyway, that's something else which could help :) I think there are groups all over the place, probably in the Yellow Pages. Also there's a compulsive eating group on curezone, I looked at it once, but there didn't seem to be much happening!
Hope the Mercola tapes are good and you get something out of them :)
Adrenals......when they're weak you could have a whole array of symptoms, eg hypoglycaemia, food/chemical sensitivities sensitives and food cravings, insomnia, hyperactivity (can't switch off and relax), chronic fatigue, mood swings and feeling very emotional/hypersensitive, bad temper or very flat, no drive or motivation, low/high blood pressure, migraine, and basically not feeling able to cope! They're the glands that are involved in the fight or flight response and will release hormones eg cortisol to help deal with the stress. Problem if the stress continues long-term whether physical or emotional putting the glands in a permanent state of stress where they weaken and can shrink.
I'm sure you probably can get your cortisol levels checked on the NHS, but don't really know. I think one way of checking is if you take your blood pressure then lie down and when you stand up take your blood pressure again......if it's lower than when you took it the first time, it means your adrenals are weak but I've never done that as I don't have a blood pressure test kit! Meditation is FANTASTIC for adrenal stress, in fact any sort of stress! :)
It sounds like you're fairly healthy physical-wise though esp after your flush :) I think something more spiritual or emotional might help you more :)
Take care :)
Anne
