Re: Hmmn..how to cook millet and quinoa?

Hi Jennie!
Yes the tutors on our course also really recommend short grain brown rice made into 'konje' (not sure if spelling is right). This way the rice is soaked for 12 hours and cooked really slowly in a flask or pan (for another 10-12 hours till it's quite guey!). I usually just soak mine overnight and cook for about 1-2 hours in a pan...I've not made it the flask way yet.
Konje is considered the 'food of the colon' as it's a swollen food which is supposed to be the best for bowel health. Cooked for a short period it IS hard to digest, but as konje it's more soothing and helps to hydrate the bowel and feed the good bacteria so is cleansing and would help with constipation. That's the theory anyway but I do find it helpful for bowel issues.
Just go with what works for you and what fit's in with your lifestyle :) There's a lot of conflicting info about food and supplements and I find it all a bit frustrating really!
Cheers :)
Anne
