The Biggest Silver Particle of All
Regardless of the presence of salt or the size of the silver particle, metallic silver is inherently self-sterilizing. Perhaps the most graphic example of this truth was revealed in a phone call from a veterinarian who was treating a horse with a serious neck infection. Nothing worked and the horse was expected to die. The vet came across an old medical text that described curing the same kind of infection by inserting a silver dime into the infected area of the horse’s neck. Having nothing to lose, the veterinarian cut an incision and inserted an old dime that was 90% silver, 9% copper and 1% zinc, and sewed up the wound. One week later the infection was gone and the dime was removed. Said the vet, "I still didn’t have any idea why it worked until I read your article."
