I think it's just a misunderstanding of calling it either good or bad because if we believe that God is in control, then we know that He will work out His plan no matter what. So why be sad? It's only bad in the sense that the Jews didn't understand Jesus and that He was their Messiah. So they are going about getting a messiah the only way they know how...and satan is going to help them do that.

As far as Ezekial 40-48...I don't know. That is not one I have applied.
