Re: Albendazole cured me & my dog - bird mites, six months later.

I have been asked by the last poster to amend my post as I found that I was not cured of them in my feet after all.

I am however totally cured everywhere else. I started to experience pinpricks in the top of my feet when I went into a pharmacy and also when standing near garden supplies.

I have since done another round of Albendazole.

I am currently on Fenbendazole and also using it as a topical.

I feel the failure to rid them on my feet is due to the poor blood supply on the top of the foot and also because this was the initial site of infestation, therefore it had many many hidden deep nests there.

I have since had five nodules cut out of my feet.

I personally still have great faith in Albendazole and would use it again if necessary.

I did lose extra hair in my hairbrush every time I washed it but never enough to stop me using it.

It is a terrible shame this poster has lost her hair. That is a very traumatic thing to happen to anyone.

Nobody knows why some users lose a lot of hair and some don't. It has been suggested by others that it could be due to either liver function or body weight/dosage. I weigh 75 kgs. My liver function has been tested and is perfect.

If given the choice again, after four years of this nightmare I would still use it as the thought of another four years suffering from mites or collembola or whatever the hell I have/had is intolerable to me.

Everyone must use their own discretion, do their own research on risks and make their own choices. That is a given on any public forum.
