Re: crashing on higher doses of iodine
Looking into your history, I see that you have leukemia.

On these medications "Yes I have CML leukemia and I've been on the Gleevec treatment, which keeps it at bay. The idea is that you take the medication until you die."
"Imatinib is a 2-phenyl amino pyrimidine derivative that functions as a specific inhibitor of a number of tyrosine kinase enzymes. It occupies the TK active site, leading to a decrease in activity.
There are a large number of TK enzymes in the body, including the insulin receptor. Imatinib is specific for the TK domain inabl (the Abelson proto-oncogene), c-kit and PDGF-R (platelet-derived growth factorreceptor)."

My guess is therefore that the crash is both because the thyroid (supressed tyrosine activity) AND adrenals.
Where to go from here.. Since you initially had a good reaction to iodine, I would suggest to go much higher than 25 mg. Take 25 mg 3-4 times a day or something. We have seen at this forum that for some; over 100 mg was needed to hit the sweet spot.
Support the adrenals with potassium, vit B; in addition to what you already do.
Are you still on a raw vegan diet?
