More on we are not gods
Again, I just want to restate that I do not believe that men are gods. I do believe that God is within man, and it is only because God is within man that we can do any good.
Gen. 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Therefore, there is no life without the presence of God, if we are alive, then God is within us. It is also interesting that the scripture says man became a 'living soul'.
Job 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life
Does God simply breathe life into us and then depart from us? That makes no sense at all, if you are breathing, then you still have God within you.
In a more general sense, God the Father is the father of all humanity and creation. If he is our Father, then a part of the Father must be within us, otherwise, how could he be our father?
One of my favorite scriptures:
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Christ is the life, without Christ, there is no life of any kind. Even regular earthly life of non-believers is not possible without the breath of God and life of Christ. However, man is also born into a sinful state of existence, so even though man is alive, man is also born into death, from every waking moment we are alive but we are in death. When through the grace of Christ, man comes to Christ and repents, he loses his earthly life and dies from his state of death and enters into life, pure life, which is salvation is Christ, for Christ is the life, the eternal life which can never die. Through Christ, we enter into eternal life (which is actually the proper state of all souls before the fall of man), and even we can return to the Father, whom we have fallen away from.
So we are not gods, but we are God's. We are of God and belong to God.
