Re: I am officially diagnosed

"Why any of us have to sit around wondering WTF and take online google crash courses in parasitology is ridiculous.
We all deserve our doctors vacation homes in the Hamptons for doing all the work for them."
That did make me chuckle.
Perhaps a robust examination of information on strongyloides stercoralis, including hyperinfection and dissemination, would give some insight into filarial stage of some roundworms.
This particular creature is endemic to some southern states in the U.S.
Also to some Asian countries.
This was of particular interest to me because I live in the South and have lived in one of those Asian countries.
In one of the latter (not the one I lived in) a testing of produce in local markets, both open air and indoor, showed that 65% were contaminated with infective filarial stage.
Meaning, they could penetrate the skin on the hand and enter the bloodstream just from someone picking up a piece of produce.
That country had/has a high percentage of populace that tests positive.
The U.S. has pockets in the South where a percentage of populace tests positive when such tests are done.
It is possible that some cases of so-called adult onset asthma may be something else entirely.
The wheezing from a chronic s.s. infection could easily be mistaken for asthma.
This is one of the creatures I had to closely examine in the process of ruling out possibles.
A look at it might be a help in further understanding filarial stages of some roundworms.
