Re The Oxalate Connection
I wanted to comment on the baking soda protocol and candida. The recommended protocol is 30 days on annd 30 days off, with one teaspoon of regular baking soda (not baking powder which contains aluminum) 2 hours away from food. This is not for people with kidney problems though. My kidneys were weak but since i did not have serious problems i decided to try - i did 30 days, taking one teaspoon in a glass of filtered water first thing in the morning. It worked miracles, and i am trying to research if i can keep on doing it without taking break, because it makes me feel much better in so many different ways. I heard some people take 2 capsules of baking soda (which you can make yourself) per day for years.
The problem with most diseases is acidosis. When pH becomes too acidic, and candida releases toxins including oxalates that make pH even more acidic, then the body's immune system cannot function well and metabollic processes become impaired as well. Here is an interesting book, it took me several days to read it online Called The
Science of eating; how to insure stamina, endurance, vigor, strength and health in infancy, youth and age
In that book the author says that lack of properly absorb able calcium - this is important - not from commercial milk - causes all sorts of acids, including uric acid, oxalate acid, amino acids, phosphoric acids etc to crystallize and deposit in various parts - causing pains and eventually permanent damage. When pH is normal, and proper mineral balance is ensured - all this goes away.
In our day and age, with modern farming, it is hard to get balance, but generally - eat as if you are back in 1800s, nothing packaged.
Re juicing, you probably ate too much
Sugar contained in apples and beats, plus dehydration - taking that much juice needed to be with a lot of water. All those minerals leached your system out of water. One glass per day, followed by a glass o water, is enough in addition to a good clean diet.
I did an
Elimination Diet for over 3 years, and ended up with deficiencies. Candida is still there. my experience is that eliminate everything packaged and produced and sugar. Fructose in limited amounts only but it is important or else you will end up with hypoglycemia.
And yes i did herbal antigungals, etc.
Luckily, i was able to restore things rather quickly.
My experience - strengthen immunity by having proper pH, take probiotics, eat only unrefined and un-manufactured foods, no refined sugar, very little fructose (or anything on -ose but some is required), coffee enemas, detox, exercise, breathing, mental affirmation, and occasional herbal antifungals - will do the job. But the key is acidosis and probiotics. Then proper mineral balance which will happen if you only eat un-manufactured foods and listen to what your body is asking for. Too much of anything is not good.
White rice, white flour - denatured products, in nature those grains are brown.
I do keep my carbs from grains under 100 gm per day, but eat other carbs without thinking.
My rule of thumb: 80% of everything I eat should be vegetables. And out of those vegetables - 80% should be raw and 20% cooked - will give the right ph throughout the day, roughly.
I also count potassium and calcium intake, it is hard to get on candida diet, so i never get what is recommended and not sure how it is possible at all (low grains, only tiny amount of fruit, no dairy, only a little almonds..? - some say the resulted potassium deficiency is the main reason why people never recover from candida. I do take magnesium and vit D 3 supplements as I live in a cold climate.
Good oils are important, flax for a few weeks and then hemp oil - good omega 3/6 ratios. Flax oil helps with arthritic pains, but it cannot be taken indefinitely I read.
Another rule of thumb for me, do not take anything for a long time, and nothing every day for more than a few days in a row.
Baking soda is doing wonders for me. Hope this helps others! but keep in mind, baking soda washes out some minerals, so you need to take a little more.
