The Black Tea does have some different properties that seem to be beneficial, one of them being tannins, however, in the evening, I do switch it to green tea, after 8pm, just because of the caffeine. Barley is widely available where we live, not sure where you are, but I just buy the Goya brand White Pearl Barley, from the corner store. I am sure all of this would be better if it were organic etc., I am not in a financial position to go that route: if you can, I would.
Obviously, use the purest water you can, tap water REALLY messes up the chemistry of these mixtures.
