Re: Girl loses 100lbs by eating 4000+ carb calories!

Here is an article published  in the JOURNAL OF NEUROPSYCHIATRY.  It discusses the stage of the General Adaptation Syndrome, which has unfortunately been renamed Adrenal Fatigue by James Wilson.

http://neuro.psychiatryonline.org/data/Journals/NP/3855/230.pdf

Dr Selye found 3 stages when he exposed rats to chronic stress.

Stage 1...initial dip in ability to handle stress (Alarm Stage)

Stage 2....Increased ability to handle stress.  Produce an above average level of adrenal hormones and neurotransmitters (Adaptation Stage). He actually recorded the adrenal glands getting larger during this stage

Many of those who have gone through AF can think back to  when they could handle more stress than people arod them.

Stage 3...Adrenal Glands begin to collapse.

At that point, the adrenal glands are not producing much at all.  But almost all raw material they have available goes to making CORTISOL. This is called pregenolone steal.  (see link for graphic of pregnenlone steal)

This is why people with AF can have low progesterone, low aldosterone, low epinephrine.  Pretty much low everything EXCEPT cortisol.

I had this show up in urine and saliva tests, as have many others.

People that are very very bad eventually experience a drop is cortisol as well, as measure by a saliva test.

If you are going to participate on the ardrenal fatigue forum, it would be wonderful for all of us if you did research on the General Adaptation Syndrome and the effects of chronic stress.

Since you told the webmaster that you have AF in order for them to give you access to this forum again.....if you really have adrenal fatigue, you would be wise to actually research chronic stress.

But for those of us actually trying to help each other, you are an unwanted distraction.  Most people would take the hint that they don't quite fit in.

 So I'll give you an A+ for tenacity,...but a D for self-awareness.

Good luck to you in your journey to heal from what ails you.
