You're very welcome MCW :-) Like you, i had no idea about these rice-sized little glands behind the thyroid managing our calcium levels! I researched all i could on them to understand them better.

I think generally the para's work well...and the thing to watch out for most is HIGH blood calcium...if it continues to be high then the para's are not doing their job properly.

You're vit D and calcium being low - could certainly point to low calcium due to low vit D. If you supplement with vit D and still calcium is low, then check the diet has enough calcium.

It seems the most common parathyroid complaint is HYPER...due to one of them having a tumour growing from it, causing loads of PTH to be released and therefore HIGH blood calcium.

Good luck with your tests - glad the para info is helpful. Now i know about them, whenever i hear of high calcium i can't help but think of those little glands.
