Re: Question for TEI Individuals

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this. You really have done your research on the parathyroid. I too, am going to further research this and see what comes of it and perhaps test in a month... I wonder if the parathyroid would be an issue for me since my calcium levels only went up as I supplemented with it, before supplementing with it, it was low. But, everything was low. I will have to research this is more detail to see if this could be an issue for me. I am just glad I am no longer taking paramin, because why try to make your calcium higher when it is already high by supplementing with more... doesn't make sense to me.

I agree, I bet the hypopara and hyperpara could be corrected with supplementation and diet, but I haven't looked into how this can be done, and like you said there is much more out there about the thyroid and hormones but not so much about the parathryoids, as I hadn't even really heard about this until you mentioned it. I will keep you updated on what I find.

So your calcium was always high even before starting a supplementing protocol, which could point to para issue, you will have to keep me posted on your next test.

I wonder if I am hypothyroid if your parathyroid would tend to be hypoparathyroid?

I will have to research this more and perhaps complete a blood test on my calcium levels in a month to see where they are at. As you had mentioned if the Vit D and calcium levels are low which mine were initially before starting NB it could point to a sluggish parathyroid... which I assume is hypo? or would this just point to low vitamin D and needing to supplement with it to absorb calcium to raise both levels? It will be interesting to see what not this retest but the next retest looks once my calcium has not been supplemented with, but I think a more accurate like you had mentioned is to check in blood tests and will be something to look into too if my calcium shows high on this upcoming retest and the next... or maybe just test on the blood test before then.

Really appreciate you bringing this up, I didn't even know about this until you mentioned it and for all I know I could have hypopara which is causing some symptoms and could be helped. Perhaps this is also why I felt better when I stopped taking paramin once my calcium levels went high, bc it was playing around with my hypopara thyroid? hmmm... or perhaps I feel better because I just didn't need the calcium since it was high and now it is going back to normal. I will need to make sure it doesn't drop low again like it did initially and perhaps I should go the route of supplementing with Vitamin D in the future to raise calcium, versus supplementing with both.

thanks again!
