Re: 40 year old giving water fasting a go!
I was thinking about this again tonight. I did your plan several years ago. I lost some weight, but then I went back to my old way of eating. It was awful, within a year I was back to my original weight.
Last year I did another water fast. After the fast I broke it on broth and juices, followed by fruits, and then spent my summer on salads and CrossFit.
Last fall I started to add more protein. I wasn't doing CrossFit as regular, but continued to add protein. I added the protein in the form of nuts (almonds, pistachio, and cashews)... within five months I had put on fifteen pounds.
I was so surprised...here I was eating healthy...but now gaining weight.
This February I decided I really needed to hone in on my calorie intake ... and I realized it takes very few calories to sustain my body today than it did yesteryear because the
Water Fasting had cleaned up my system enough to make it more efficient.
I have come to the conclusion I can no longer keep the mentality this little something won't hurt me this time ... in all honesty yes it will.
I don't know why my body doesn't need much food ... I am sure it is a combination of things. Coming to accept this as my reality has helped me.
It took me exactly 21 days to rid myself of the hunger once I went back to mostly raw. I no longer snack much on nuts. Most days I am eating a clementine with a salad full of veggies. I spend a great deal of time eating beets and sweet potatoes ... not sure why but they taste so darn good these days.
My weight is coming off again. Because I have many kids I am learning to appreciate this has to be the way I live my life.
I don't want to die ... I want to be that sexy grandma.
Overall I feel great ... that for me is well worth the effort.
