A bit of background, Im a Dad of 3, 40 years old 5'10" and 238lbs :(
I've tried every diet known to man over the years and they all failed after a while as I just hate the constant misery of a diet. Don't get me wrong I do have willpower, I quit smoking years ago using the cold turkey method which I actually found dead easy. You just stop, not have 3/4 of a cig for a week then 1/2 a cig for a month etc like dieting.
So I stumbled upon
Water Fasting and a lightbulb went off in my head. No more constant misery of dieting which would not work for me anyway. So I made up my mind, a 21 day
Water Fast to kick things off followed by the 4/3 plan where you eat whatever you want for 4 days a week and
Water Fast for the other 3. Hurrah! A decent feed is only ever a day away! No more turning down invitations out because you can only eat some special combination of food. I also hate the idea of going to 'the gym'. That aint gonna happen no way. Gym = misery and and there is no way I could endure a constant source of misery in the long run. You have to work with what you got right!
I'm pretty sure once I get down to near my target weight I will be able to cut the fasting days down to 2 or even 1 a week, it all depends how much I eat the other days. But I know in my mind this is completely achievable.
So my least feed was Sunday, I weighed myself Monday morning (so I can weigh same time each day) and I was a shocking 238lbs.
I've kept a mini diary on how I felt mentally and physically each day and will try and keep it upto date here.
I would be very interested if any fellow members have traveled down a similar road and what our experience was.
Day 1. Lost 4.2 lbs
No change in mood or physical feeling, a bit hungry but the water takes that away. Reading more on the whole water loss in first couple days, struggling to get my head round how I could lose say 10lbs of water the first week when I'm drinking it like a fish and the body can only store a couple
pounds of glycogen.
Day 2. Lost 2.8 lbs (7 lbs total)
Slightly fuzzy head today, some hunger pangs. Breath is pretty bad! No fatigue as such. Drinking a couple liters of water throughout the day, tap water cant be bothered with distilled. Any detox will be an added side bonus. I did quite a lot of physical work today so hoping that will pay off.
Day 3. Lost 3.3 lbs (10.3 lbs total)
Felt much better today, my mood is much better than normal. I am quote a negative person normally (which annoys the heck out of me) but I feel strangely positive. My skin looks soo much better I wouldn't say 'glowing' but its smooth, no spots. My gut has definitely shrunk as I'm 2 notches down on the belt (2"). woohoo.
So far so good and I'm really motivated to stick to the 21 days and see where that leaves me with regard to my goal weight. I'm aiming at 182lbs initially. If I still have a lot of fat left after the 21 days I may add another week before switching the the 4/3 method.
