I do not view all vegetarianism/veganism as bad things. It didn't work for me, but perhaps it can work for somebody else.
Vegetarianism or veganism can be life-threatening for some, however can be great for others.
I believe that in order to be healthy without animal products you need to be strong Pitta-Kapha type (Ayurvedic typing), or carbohydrate type (according to Dr. Mercola) and eat real fruits, veggies and nuts - organic and not processed foods.
For Vata types, Vata-Kapha, or Vata-Pitta types (Protein type, according to Dr. Mercola) vegetarianism, or veganism can be truly devastating, they simply can not build tissues as sufficiently as Pitta-Kapha type and are not able to digest plant fibers well.
That's just a point of view.
