I also did the gut fermentation test as misscallie and was positive. Although I'm not in uk I went there low cost and did the test in Biolab and also Gut permeability test. They were positive both.

this is just the beginning cause they dont tell what kind of bacteria do you have. I've had done another stool test in Germany with a lab called ENTEROSAN or similar. although they did not find the parasites i have they did a pretty good bacterial profile on the stool. might be helpfull for you. but culture tests are the best. do try and search labs near universities - i've heard that they are pretty good in Germany and northern europe.

I have both SIBO and Candida. blood test in germany showed nothing but 1 month later stool test in my country find it togheter with giardia both chronically. A test from the mouth throat showed enterobacter which usually should be in the bowel. so do try find better testing services...this is the first point.

For me simple acidophilus was ok low strenght - Kirkman labs 3 mil hipoallergenic (there is a site in holland selling them in Europe dont remember exactly) or Natren Acidophilus (megaexpensive - had to give up). more probiotic strains were also not ok for me as for you.
