Re: Is this Sibo or Candida?
Hi,
thanks for your response.
Yeah, that's the problem, figuring out what I actually have. It could be both, as I've read that there's a high correlation between SIBO and lactose intolerance but a malabsorption can result in candida as well. Also, I took lots of
Antibiotics as a child, which probably added to my digestive troubles.
That's really good for you that you can get the test to do at home. I found a site where I could order a H2-Glucose test, but I'm not sure what to do once I get the results. I think I'll give it a shot though.
As for the diet, I read that with SIBO you need
Antibiotics by all means to kill the bacteria, otherwise they just come back. If I do the diet again, I will just relapse as soon as I stop it and I am not planning on going on such a restrictive diet indefinitely without some strong antibacterial medication. Yes HCl seems to have helped many people, it makes sense to try it. Probiotics have not helped me (which is typical for SIBO) but if you haven't tried it for yourself, give it a go I'd say. The only scientifically proven herbal supplement that helps with SIBO is said to be peppermint oil capsules.
Yes, I am currently eating gluten although when I did a gluten
Elimination Diet for some days I clearly had detox symptoms. However, I attributed this to the SIBO or Candida, since both just feed on everything they get. My doctor suggested doing some further testing for intolerances, but doctors seem not too knowledgeable, ironically.
Good luck to you, take care.
