no thyroid. iodine?

Eight years ago, while pregnant with my daughter, I developed Papillary Thyroid Cancer with Follicular Variants. (which I now suspect was caused by Candidiasis) The doctors removed my entire thyroid, and then wiped out any stray thyroid cells with Radioactive Iodine Ablation.

Should I be taking supplemental iodine? My understanding is the only cells in your body that absorb Iodine are thyroid cells. If I have no thyroid cells left, should I even bother? If there are a few stray cells floating around in my body, would Iodine aggravate them, somehow? My endo is hyper vigilatant about leftover thyroid cells. I had a scan one year after ablation and there were no thyroid cells present.

So, iodine. Yes or no?
