Re: Going to start chelation with ALA today, sick of being sick, a few questions.

I had a rough day today, lots of Depression and shin-splint like pain in my forearms and around my ankles....

== Could be low magnesium. Mg is used to make serotonin and GABA, and is helpful to muscles. If you have not tried 5htp, you might consider it. Also make sure you are getting adequate B vitamins, but not too close to bed time.

I was careful to keep my doses more uniform, and every 2 1/2 hrs.

== I think you are smart to at least try this. It may not be the problem, but it is good to try to rule it out.

I take and seriphos in the morning and ashwaghanda before work and before bed,

== ashwaghanda is not on Cutler's long list of things to try although a number of members of the chelation groups use it. The reason I mention this is that when people have an Hg problem is seems wise to take the things that tend to offset the way *Hg* causes a particular symptom--in this case poor sleep. Ashwaghanda may be excellent for certain causes of poor sleep but not so good for the way Hg causes sleep problems.

== Chelation group members more commonly report positive results from melatonin--sometimes time release too, GABA, 5htp, magnesium. Not infrequently they have to be careful what they eat and what supplements they take in the evening. A close friend is sleeping better than probably any time in her adult life now that she finally found the right combo. One of her endocrine supplements includes a little ashwaghanda but she takes that in the afternoon.

I have been taking Natural Calm( Mg citrate) a couple times a day,

== That is the form of Mg that seems to be most commonly used in the chelation groups.

....and trying to eat more.

== Adrenal fatigue can cause or contribute to hypoglycemia (cf glucocorticoids). Some benefit from eating smaller meals and healthy snacks. My close female friend is like this. I can usually tell if she has not eaten in a while just from talking to her on the phone! Her mood and alertness are not the same.

I still juice around 48 oz. a day, upped my vitamin d, and c, still take Zn, selenium, e, b, lechithin, and rice protein powder. Also glucosamine amd hyaluronic acid and silica. This sleep thing is a mystery to me....I absolutely cannot sleep more than 2 or 3 hours at a time, it is hell.

== You almost certainly will pick up tips from the hundreds of folks who are chelating with Cutler in the yahoo Frequent Dose Chelation group--1500 posts per month.

Only when i take .25g klonopin with an aswaganda do I sleep, and it is such a small dosage i think it helps more than it hurts, but other than that I can never relax enough.

== You can also look into the sulfate angle. This is very complex! Hg toxic folks often don't make optimal amounts of sulfate and taurine which are at the end of transsulfuration process. I don't have time to explain it. There is more in the Files of the yahoo chelation groups and in Cutler's Amalgam Illness book--noamalgam.com

== Hang in there. Keep learning. There are many more things for you to try. It usually gets better as you chelate and as you get a better combo of supplements.

== Joe

Did you ever have a sleep issue? This has been over a year now.
