Concerned about chronic sinusitis
Background is nasal allergies (mostly pollen) and an allergy to wheat. I have never gone through any advance treatment, just antihistamines and corticosteroid sprays, if anything. MRI results taken in mid November revealed a sinus infection. I wasn't even aware since I possessed no major/common sinusitis symptoms. Doctor prescribed Amoxicillin for 14 days (around Thanksgiving). 5 days in, I was suffering very severe nausea and malaise. This was brought to the Dr.'s attention and he advised me to stop taking the
Antibiotic as "I probably took enough". As soon as I stopped the antibiotic, I felt improvements in my symptoms. However, over the last two weeks, I have periodically felt major fatigue, aches, soreness, malaise, all coming off and on. Monday of this week, I started feeling very spacey, with my eyes cloudy and waking up with nasal discharge. Clearly the infection came back or never went away. Notified doctor and they prescribed me Bioxin based off my sides from the last antibiotic. I am concerned (perhaps overly?) as the last two days have given me additional symptoms of chills, low body temp. (97.5), slowish heart beat (50, when normally 65), low BP (avg. 95/65 when normally 105/65), nausea, random sinus pains, head fullness, and anxiety. Could this be the beginning of sepsis? I haven't had a fever or rash, so I'm thinking it is just the sinus infection combined with healthy anxiety. My blood labs were last drawn a couple weeks ago and everything was perfect except slightly low platelets (125). I eat exceptionally healthily, low sugar, no alcohol/coffee, drink plenty of water, and take daily probiotics. I've been using a neti pot twice a day (could this potentially be causing the spacy feeling due to trapped water?) as well as an herbal decongestant spray. I also tried chili powder spray (talk about painful!). I am schedule to begin
Antibiotic treatment tomorrow.
For those that wish to share some insight, I have a few questions:
-Does this sound like a chronic sinus infection? If so, will new
Antibiotic prove helpful in removing it? How can I tell if it is fungal and not bacterial? Once removed, what are the best ways to prevent a occurrence based of my personal history?
-Should I continue with the neti pot/spray?
-I also drink echinacea tea and take a garlic supplement to help with the infection. Should I discontinue this practice once on the antibiotic?
-Should I be concerned about taking two
Antibiotics in two months?
-Should I bother thinking about sepsis at this point? Seemed like I shared quite a few symptoms, but I feel that those would be experienced in an extreme sense if truly sepsis.
-In addition to allergies, should I look at candida being a cause of my issues?
Thanks for your time!
