Re: Probiotics contributing to SIBO/biofilms/feeding pathogens??
petluvr, for what it's worth, I've been taking a variety of vitamin supplements and a probiotic for months, without any noticeable improvement. I also decided to stop taking the protein powders (both tea and rice), as I believe that I should already be getting plenty of protein from the 6 raw eggs and 250g of steamed salmon I consume daily.
I purchased a large jar yesterday, and plan to have a stab at making my own sauerkraut this evening, after work. It'll probably take a week or so before the kraut is ready (presumably depending on how it's made and where it's stored), however I believe it's a cheap and relatively easy natural supplement, so definitely worth trying for a month or so.
Regarding constipation, are you taking any heme iron supplements? I gather that these can sometimes contribute to constipation. Currently, I drink a Japanese herbal tea called 'Mashiningan' ('Hemp seed pill' in English), three times a day. It tastes absolutely disgusting, however it eases my constipation considerably.
Take care
