Uny, let me start by saying that I think you have a tremendous knowledge base, a great forum and I'm sure you have helped 1000's since your forum started. I only started reading it a few months ago, wish I had started sooner. (We have something in common, i.e. learning about caffeine and the adrenals the hard way.) And the advice you gave to Jboy re: Xanax, etc was profound. And if I asked Jboy he'd probably say 'life-changing.'

You have every right to be confident in your knowledge base, and to be secure in your self. So DON'T GET RATTLED. When Hv slaps down a complete mischaracterization of your knowledge/beliefs in the midst of an argument, that's a TACTIC, the point of which is to RATTLE you. Then, while you're exasperating, looking like this: , he gets back to the argument at hand and makes more hay...

I've read all the comments you assembled, but I still come back to the bottom line that none of those examples on their own, viewed in context, are grounds for excommunicating Hv as some are calling for. But then, I guess what you are really angling to make is a kind of "totality of the evidence"-type of case.

You are using words like "slanderous" and "defamation" and "libel".... but "Unyquity" is a screen name. I just went to your forum, and clicked on "Description," and on "Herbal...Storefront." Your real name is nowhere to be found. It would be real tough to argue, in a court of law, that any of those 3 legal terms apply.

But let's talk damages. From a financial angle, you would have to make the case that normally your daily/weekly sales are *this* high, but in the wake of Hv's comments they dropped way down *here.* I'd be surprised if you had records that showed that (but even if you did, that wouldn't prove causation, especially with the economy the way it is and has been).

Let's talk professionally. You might make the case (if it were true) that you were about to be named a board member of some alternative health group, or awarded some prestigious position, but were denied because Hv's false statements influenced the decision-makers. It's possible, but if I'm a regular guy sittin' in the jury box, at this point...I need some convincing.

People know an argument when they see one. The notion that someone is going to click precisely on one of Hv's posts where he mischaracterizes your beliefs, and read that, then nothing else and then leave CZ thinking "Boy, this Unyquity character sure is misguided".... c'mon. Us CZers have absolutely no meaning to the person who reads one post then leaves.

Also, I don't have time to check, but whichever comments were made by Hv in a Debate Forum, legally, those would be meaningless, IMO. A debate forum is an ARENA, and if you entered willingly (especially using a screen name with your real name virtually unknown), something truly egregious would have to be said to make you a legitimate victim. In too many cases here the truth is not clear-cut. There are huge areas of grey. Take this whole cayenne business which doesn't appear to be settled. And people have a right to their opinion. Someone can believe that I have 1 brain cell no matter how much it hurts me.

Whenever I've read long debate threads, not in LF Debate but elsewhere where it's between Hv and one other person, such as Tony for e.g., I've thought "Well, there's two people 'givin as good as they get' as the saying goes." Which reminds me - Grz's post where he says some people just "like to watch others, and the world burn," that's just weepy, melodramatic rubbish, IMO...
