Re: Taking the Triple Drug Therapy for Blastocystis

Hello Thisland,

I took the 2nd line therapy of the triple therapy along with Doxycycline. Nitaz and Doxy are only twice a day. and secnidazole/furazolidone are three times a day.

My advice is keep a steady supply in your body and take the meds 'around the clock'. Not just your waking hours. Take every 8 hours on the clock. Even your dose falls at 3am, set your clock, eat a high protein meal, and take the meds. It's a pain but it's worth it to be rid of this. It's only 10 days.
Your side effects will be minimal if you eat 'high protein' (before) the meds. Your nausea will be worse if you don't eat a good healthy meal beforehand.

I did not go through a doctor, I was told "You can live in harmony with this protozoa". The doctor also said it couldn't possibly be responsible for these symptoms and was told it's IBS. Funny how I developed IBS after drinking contaminated well water as did my husband. I though IBS wasn't contagious (sarcasim). Anyhow, I self treated though some online pharmacies. Since I was being doctor and pharmacist I studied these drugs for about 3 months before taking them. So I could be prepared for any and all side effects. I studied foods to avoid, how best to take it, adverse reactions and how to prevent them, ect ect. Luckily...nothing happened - no reactions. Normal side effects, yes, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Good Luck!!!
