Re: Taking the Triple Drug Therapy for Blastocystis

Coralreef, this is SO exciting that you got rid of this bug! Maybe there's hope for the rest of us! What exactly was the protocol that you took? You said Secnidazole/Furazolidone/Nitazoxinide but what dosage? How often, How long for each medicine? All at the same time? I had tried Nitazoxinide for Dientamoeba fragilis, but alone, not in combination with anything. And all it did was make my tummy hurt more than usual while I was taking it; nothing else. (I've also tried Flagyl, a low dose 250mg of Tinidazole with standard dose of Yodoxin (Iodoquinol); and a higher dose 1000mg of Tinidazole with Paramomycin. The last combo helped a lot for a few months, however didn't eradicate the bugs. But after I took an Antibiotic for a urinary infection, all symptoms got really really bad again...

How did you get your meds? Prescribed by your local doctor, or was this a do-it-yourself job? Do you live in Australia? I can't find any doctor who's willing to treat more than once. They just keep telling me take digestive enzymes and to restrict my diet (no dairy, no gluten, no sugar, alcohol, etc), which hasn't helped a bit!

Thanks for your time.
