Re: Dry fast

Dear Ann,

Thank you for such a detailed response. I very much appreciate it.

Last night I broke my 7 day dry fast, not because I could not have gone for more, but because I was instructed to do so by Dr. Filonov. In fact he forbade me to go any further.

During my 7 day dry fast I lost 21 lbs. I started at 152.8 and ended at 131.8. On the 7th day my tongue was barely white, my urine was very light yellow and I had plenty of energy, but I knew to not argue with my doctor..:)

A while back Dr. Filonov told me that the only reason anyone should do two or three consecutive long (9 - 11 days) dry fasts is if they have pathalogies in their bodies. Otherwise, for someone like me, going beyond 7 days is dangerous and could cause irreversable damage to my internal organs.

However, since my goal is to get to a certain weight (120 lbs)he told me that I could do 7 days on and 7 days off cycle until I reach my goal, then transition to weekly fasts for maintenace.

I did not ask him why at the time, and I probably will in the future. But I would like to offer you my own rational. As you know during the dry fast the organism consumes all the dead, sick and weak as well as excessive in our body. Any viruses or bacterias that are not needed get eliminated. But what if you've already got rid of most of them (in my case, as you know, I finished a 40 day fast just a little over a month ago, so I don't think there was much left)? Then my organism would start to consume the healthy stuff, since there is nothing else available.

I am sure the same happens once you read that 11 day mark. As you will read in Sergey's book the final healing crisis occurs between 9 - 11 day, beyond that there is simply no point to carry on except for allowing your organism start consuming the good cells.

In the past 20 years, so much research has been done in Russia on dry fasting and no one ever suggested that you need to fast beyond 11 days. So that is what I was trying to tell you. I hope it is helpful and gives you some food for thought. My suggestion to you came from my heart. Dry fasting is a very powerful process and the consequences of doing it for too long might come up later in the years, according to Dr. Filonov.
