Re: Dry fast
You're correct, Sara is on the wrong forum.
Can somebody please start a forum called "fasting for people who hate facts". Sara, you will feel much better there.
Sara said that the body needs water. That is true, and that is why the body is already 70% water. A 100 lb woman will have 70 lbs of water on board. This means about 9 gallons of water. Not all is available to the faster, but much of it is.
A trim woman at say 15% body fat weight and 100 lbs will be carrying 15 lbs of fat. Fat is over 3000 calories per pound. That is 45,000 calories. The fat is also mostly water, so there is almost 2 gallons of water in the fat.
2 gallons is 256 ounces. If such a person were to dry fast for 40 days, that's over 6
ounces of water a day available-from fat alone. Heavier people will obviously have more available. People who fast for less than 40 days will also have more daily water available. The body does not need water like usual when dry fasting. Especially since one should not be exerting themselves like usual.
Many have reported long dry fasts. Fonty who used to frequent the WF forum used to dry fast for 2 weeks at a time. A pastor in Africa recently claimed to do a 40 day dry fast. There are many posters here who are reporting significant dry fasts.
Sara, You often refer to your religion. Well my religion, which comes from the Bible advocates dry fasts. The best example is Moses who did 40 days dry on Mt Sinai and then immediately repeated it without re-feeding. That's 80 days dry.
So the Bible advocates dry fasts. I can't find any evidence to the contrary. Not only Moses, but the prophets and Jesus did 40 day dry fasts. Jesus not only came to die for our sins but to also be an example to us. Therefore, I do not believe that Jesus would do something that would be dangerous to us (if we do it PROPERLY).
At this point, you must either prove that the Bible as well as these other individuals don't know what they are talking about, or perhaps open your mind a tad.
Again, you claim something to be dangerous and add no scientific support whatsoever. That is not helpful to this dialogue.
