Dry fast


Hi,

Today is the first day of my 14-day dry fast. I have fasted regularly for the last 1-2 years, usually starting from a dry fast and then, most of the time, switching into a Water Fast to enhance and prolong the health effect of the fast .

I do it for a health reason; First, I have tried to help my body to get rid of the chronic sinusitis that I have had for more than 20 years. I have almost won the battle with the sinusitis but, unfortunately, I have recently discovered the presence on my left eye a small pterygium, the non-malignant conjunctiva-originating neoplasm. Now I must assist my body in eliminating its growth.

I will write every day about my experience because I see the need to demystify a dry fast, which for me has been just an extremely easy and useful tool to keep my body healthy.

I am a 52-year-old female, slim and physically active. When I fast, I am not afraid about my nutritional status because, between fasts, I take care to serve my body with as nutritionally rich food as possible. I seldom/never eat junk and use coffee exclusively as the coffee enema.

I have been an almost raw vegan for the last 4-5 years; my plant-based diet varies with the seasons. I consume plenty of vegetables - I consider green (vegetable) juices to be my staple food. A dandelion (both leaves and roots) has been recently their main ingredient. I always add to my juices some fat, for example avocado, flax oil, ground flax seeds, soaked chia seeds, ground sesame seeds, soaked ground nuts (all nuts that are available in a raw state), soaked and ground almonds (without the skin); I also add maca and nutritional yeast to my veg juices. I drink kombucha and rejuvelac every day. I consume lemon juice with water, bananas and apples all year round; I seldom eat other fruits (except for mangoe, kiwi, water melon and ananas seasonally).

When I feel the need for the warm food, I usually cook some seeds (usually quinoa) and, when they are soft, I add my green juice to them and warm a little, creating a delicious, hot soup. I also drink hot teas; I like to add to them some wolfberries.
