Re: Why are we speachless?
I'm not talking about my congregation. I'm talking about in the sum of all the churches, there are many who believe like me, and I read an article recently that said belief in predestination, as in God's sovereignty, is on the rise. I hope that's true.
I know of a very large congregation that believes just as I do, and that's just one that I went to personally when I lived somewhere else. There are large churches that teach this all over. Many Presbyterian churches that teach this, but I'm not a Presbyterian and I have issues with some of there other beliefs.
Nevertheless, there are many, and it use to be the norm in chrisitanity. Do some research on it.
When the founding fathers said, "All men are created equal," they were meaning in a physical sense, so that all men would have equal rights here on this earth. They were talking in a political sense here, not spiritual. Although most were christians, and no doubt, they wrote the constitution based on biblical beliefs. But still, they weren't talking about a salvational issue when they said that. Or at least I hope not. Either way, I don't care. I know what the bible says.
But of course, in one way, we are absolutely all created equal in that we all were born sinners. Maybe that's what they meant.
Romans 3:
9 What shall we conclude then? Do we have any advantage? Not at all! For we have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under the power of sin. 10 As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11 there is no one who understands;
there is no one who seeks God.
12 All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”
13 “Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice deceit.”
“The poison of vipers is on their lips.”
14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”
15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16 ruin and misery mark their ways,
17 and the way of peace they do not know.”
18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.
