Of course this would all circle back to the sabbath. Somehow it always does. :)

He was warning them about turning back to the law, any of the law, not just the sabbath, in dependence for justification, or sanctification.

The same warning goes today. If a person is depending on anything they are doing, whether it be keeping the sabbath, or keeping whatever, or depending on anything whatsoever other than Christ for their salvation, including justification, sanctification, glorification, they should be warned.

And on the subject of sabbath, Paul said it is up to you. If you want to esteem one day above another go ahead. If you want to esteem them all alike, that's fine too. Just do whatever you do unto the Lord.

It's not wrong to keep the sabbath the way God commanded the Israelites to keep it. What's wrong is to tell other people they have to keep it that way or they are not saved, or that they have to keep it that way to be right with God.

The scriptures are clear that the sabbath command was a shadow of what was to come. Now we have the reality, Christ.
