I agree with everything you said randomnesss. my elderly relative with very loving children even said the same thing to me, you cannot guarantee that your kids will stick around when you are old. Some may move away. She says she is just lucky.
Yeah my mom tried to force lacy undergarments and stupid frilly girly crap on me and I hated it. Still do!
I think that may be part of why I never had children young, I didn't want to be that hated parent figure.
