Re: Why Curezone's ranking is dropping
Interesting thread.
One of the main things to consider in ranking is SEO or Search Engine Optimization. As someone else noted, CZ's software is archaic, making it very unwieldy in terms of navigation and searching, but in looking at the header source code for CZ, it is very old technology hence stale. It does not employ SEF or Search Engine Friendly technology. Because of the construction of this header source code, Search engines are passing over CZ as their search characteristics have advanced far beyond what CZ offers up. Because of this outdated web code, CZ is also not offering up site maps either which are part of the SEO architecture.
Anyway, there are a lot of technical reasons why CZ has plummeted in ranking. Understanding how SEO works is integral for running a popular web site. One clue that the owners of CZ are not putting much into getting CZ into the 21st century technology is the copyright at the bottom of the page. Copyright 1996 - 2009 CureZone.com Not a good sign when we are close to 2011. And will suggest that the erratic moderation of CZ has led to a lot of bad experiences for people. That has not helped either.
Who knows what the future is for CZ, but I would highly recommend that forums and threads be saved, regardless. Can't ever be too safe that way.
If anything happens to CZ, I've offered to set up a forum application for a couple of folks, to keep some threads going. Offer is still good.
