Appearances lie. Why do you keep believing them?
I continue to be confused by how you so often seem to try to grasp at positive spins on what is happening in the Gulf. There is nothing positive about it. Did you not see the experts testify that the toxic oil will be with us for decades? Did you not note that the poster you replied to is desperately trying to sell her house and move away from the gulf?
I hardly find reports from two guys who make a living catching sharks to be reassuring. What did they do to assure that their sharks were safe to eat? The smell test? Eating the catch themselves and not yet getting sick? Is there a smell test for cancer? And some cancers take up to eight years or longer to develop and become even the size of a pinhead or match head. I bet a lot of the cleanup workers at the Exxon Valdez spill who did not get terribly sick right off or who seemed to get better thought things were safe too. Might have even munched down on some fish they caught in Prince William Sound. Twenty years later almost all of them are dead, and the average age of death was 51.
Appearing to get back to normal? Yes, that is what it has been about all along isn't it? Making things "appear" to get back to normal, complete with lie after lie, restricted access, bogus statements and coverup after coverup. Appearances aside, the Gulf is nowhere back to normal and will not be within our lifetimes.
