Re: Some good information on religious fundamentalism
"Science is the questioning and testing of theories, so to say there is 'fundamentalist science' is an illogical statement."
Sure, hard
Science should follow these principles, but as we know, all Christians do not follow the principles of Christianity and all scientists do not follow these principles of science, and from that we get a misnomer by contradiction of the basic principles. As a result we can ascertain the terms fundamentalist christian as compared to fundamentalist science. Consider the following definition.
fundamental
–noun
5.
a basic principle, rule, law, or the like, that serves as the groundwork of a system; essential part:
It is clear there are scientists that stick to the basic principles you have explained regarding science. It is also clear that there are scientists that do not follow these principles. Yet if they have a degree you still consider them to be scientists despite the fact they do not follow the basic principles of science.
Likewise, There are Christians that are good and practice the principles of love toward their fellow man, the most basic principle laid out for Christians. It is clear that the people called "fundamentalist christians" in the article in question, do not necessarily follow this basic principle. Yet they are still considered to be Christians, despite the fact that they do not follow the basic principle of Christianity.
Therefore we can conclude that those that are labeled, do not always fit the said label. Despite the fact that they are commonly referred to by such labels.
