I had most of the issues that you are referring to, and some others as well. I think anxiety is a multifacted problem and while there is no one "magic bullet" for it, I have found something that has worked exteremely well for me. As others here have said, anxiety is a combination of mental and physical components and so dealing with it requires removing stress as much as possible from your life, changing your diet to a more healthy one, finding support from others, and other approaches that support you as a person.
Having said the above, there are two things that I think helped me more than anything else I have tried over the last several years. First and foremost is Sceletium Tortuosum or Kanna. This is an herb from South Africa that has become available in the West recently but which has been used for centuries there. I purchase it as a tincture as it is easier to control the dose and because it works very quickly. When I first tried it I was skeptical of the claims being made for it but I am now a believer. 4 or 5 drops in a glass of water and I am much, much calmer. No more panic or anxiety for at least half a day. It does not make me groggy, "spaced out" or feeling like I am drugged. It seems to remove the anxiety and random thoughts completely. If there is a natural substance that truly works for anxiety, this is it. A bonus is that it also seems to work as an anti-depressant without ANY of the negative side effects of SSRI's. I sometimes skip a dose, take it every few days, or several times a day on an irregular schedule and still experience dramatic relief. In Africa where it was used traditionally people used it for long periods of time with no ill effects.
Second is Pregnenalone. Many who suffer from anxiety have low cortisol or cortisol levels that are unstable. As soon as I began taking Pregnenalone I noticed that the hot flashes I was getting vanished. My anxiety and insomnia also stabilized soon after beginning it.
