This is something I've always wondered about as well MM, christian churches, who all claim they have the 'truth', and everyone else is wrong. They can't all be 'right', but while these divisions are in place, they will keep condemming and arguing their case that the 'god' of their particular brand of belief is the only true god.

Trying to discredit a person who leaves the belief system of christianity, is also a common occurance.

I admire this ex-priest, at least he had the honesty and courage to admit his mistakes and get out of the trap he was in. This can be a harrowing experience for many people who leave these christian groups. To become a catholic priest takes years of study and commitment to a belief system, it is a life commitment, and to leave this church because he found he could no longer live with the incongruities of the beliefs, is an act of great personal strength and bravery.
