Gandhi was a consumate politician, and I mean this in the sense of a politician being a public 'servant', because he did indeed serve his people well. This is also how many Indians view Gandhi, I know this from living in India and still having many friends there. It is the people in western countries that tend to diefy him as being something more than a good human being. Gandhi himself may well have been horrified at this thought :)
