Re: Influence

I think that all action is dependant on intention. It is the intention as much as the action that causes imbalance. It is the intention which is the choice.

I recently had to kill a deadly snake. It had decided to make its home at the hostel that myself and my partner own. I didn't want to kill it, and tried to scare it away to an area where it would not be a danger to myself, my pets, or our guests. The snake kept coming back, and killed one of my chickens. These kind of snakes are very territorial, and as there are a lot of them in my area, this one didn't have the choice of just moving to another territory, if it did, the snake in that territory would kill it.

I killed the snake, I did this out of a need to protect others, and myself, I did it as quickly and efficiently as I could to minimise any pain it would cause the snake. My 'intention' was not to cause pain or death unnecessarily, and I am at ease with this decision.

In a perfect reality, the snake would have moved on of its own accord, but this is not a perfect reality.
