Re: Herbs Are Not Effective and Quite Dangerous
Well said Grz.
The truth for many people, myself included, is that for them allopathic medicine does not work. Allopathic medicine and the drugs prescribed did not work for me, and in fact, made me sicker. It was sheer desparation and frustration with allopathic medicine that drove me to seek alternative treatments. As a scientist, I did my research on all of the alternative treatments so that I knew what I was taking was not going to cause any damage. There are thousands of scientific studies done on the effectiveness of herbs and supplements, these studies also tend to be free from the influence of drug companies, so have more credibility than the often suspect studies done on allopathic drugs.
If people are stupid enough to take any sort of medicine, be it allopathic or alternative, without doing the research, the outcome is likely to be a bad one. Any medicine, herbs, supplements, allopathic drugs, foods, in fact just about anything, is dangerous if taken in excess or unnecessarily. Ignorance is what is dangerous, not the substance.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but to use a blanket statement like "Herbs are not effective and quite dangerous" without giving any evidence to support your statement, gives the impression, IMHO, that you have some sort of emotional agenda that you are pushing rather than any knowledge on the subject.
