Re: cavernous liver hemangioma
Hi there,
I am 45 and I have been diagnosed with a cavernous liver hemangioma (19cm x 11cm) 3 years ago, almost a year after the birth of my first child. I have been monitored regularly since and it is not changing size (although I feel more discomfort as the time goes by). Six months after the diagnosis, I got pregnant again and went through the second pregnancy with no problem. I had a liver ultrasound done at about 6 months (cannot do a CT scan while pregnant) just to monitor the size. Delivery went well, baby was perfect and since then, the yearly CT hasn't shown any change.
Hope this will help you in going forward with having a baby... one more thing, i didn't take any contraception between my 2 pregnancies and since the second baby, I have a IUD.
The only thing that is really bothering me, is that I still look like 5 months pregnant, Dr don't seem to agree on the responsibility of the hemangioma... and as it's been said before, here in Canada, Dr are not pro-surgery (and I am followed by one of the top hepatic surgeon here)
Good luck!
C
