Re: Is it just me...

Hello dreamr,
I tend to agree with the jist of your post and Mouseclicks reply to it.

The crux of the problem (as I see it) within the WFSF, concerns what actually constitutes a "support" post and a "blogging" post, and where the debate on my part (now moved here) concerned this, but was mainly to do with the "attitude" of some posters towards others who were looked upon as blogging.

I would find it difficult to distinguish between a post looking for "support" and that of a "blog" as a blog can be defined as: "a shared on-line journal where people can post diary entries about their personal experiences".

Isn't this what we do most if not ALL of the time?: the posting of entries about our personal experiences with fasting shared from past and present experiences of members on a daily basis?
How then can we learn if we do not blog or post about our current experiences with the fast on a sometimes daily or weekly basis, & how this relates to the experience of other fasters who have been thru the same or similar experiences. One example here is comparing the symptoms of detox such as in "Day1", or "Day3", "reached day7, has anyone experienced this?".
Posting on a daily basis and describing the events of that day in relation to a persons fast are in fact posts looking for support, and where we are here or should be here to offer it.

The issue here I believe is not about blogging per-se, but about the sheer length of a members post, which for many was just too cumbersome and involved to deal with.

In my opinion, no one should be held to account for digressing from the main subject, as these "digressions" are just part & parcel of any subject, and in particular with the fast being such an intimate personal experience, it is I think quite natural to want to share these as a means of asking for that support. A problem shared is a problem halved.

Support is what we are about, and if this involves support with seemingly unrelated issues then it is our role to do so and offer this in the best and most constructive way possible. If this leads to the poster being redirected to a different method or avenue of help, then so be it.
It is definitely not our role to admonish the poster, as more harm than good could be the end result, and where I for one would like to continue with a clear conscience of constructive, impartial and kindly advice for the benefit of everyone.

Regards

Chrisb1.
